The Chaffinch

The Chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) belongs to the finch familiy (Fringillidae) and it is a songbird.

Description
The male bird is more eye-catching that the female bird. It has got a blue and grey coloured coat around its head and its neck. The area of its back and belly are red coloured. Their wings are nearly black with light white areas. That is typical of Chaffinches. The female bird is unimposing. It appears completely brown with some green reflection on its back. The colours of their wings are the same.
The average weight: 25 g.
The average height: 17 cm.
They fly wavelike and if they walk on the ground, they'll walk nodding their heads.

Nutrition

They eat mainly fruits, corny seed, insects and spiders. Its young are mosly given Insects and their larvae.
